PBL Method and Mindset

PBL Method

Terry has worked with problem-based learning since the mid-90s. In 2008, I began working with a group of colleagues from six state universities, the purpose of which was to develop a curriculum and training program built on the foundations of problem-based learning. The team was part of a state-wide initiative that redesigned the state’s teacher preparation program.

In 2013, Terry began working with a number of like-minded faculty who believe that problems are best understood when they are presented in daily life, are urgent enough in nature to require immediate attention, and are holistic in nature. We continue to learn more about how teaching and learning can be improved by the PBL method.

In later years, we have observed that if one practices the method enough, they will develop what we call a “PBL mindset.” See more about this in the book Mindset for Success, co-authored by me and Dr. Heather Dillard. The book is available on Solution Tree Press and on Amazon.
